🌱  University Offerings: Academic, Research, and Community Outreach

1. Academic Offerings: Learning Style

  • Problem-Based Learning:
    • 60% of the total pre-clinical curriculum taught in the problem-based learning format
    • Structure: Students organized into groups of 8-9 where they analyze patient cases focused on specific body systems. Within each group, students identify major learning concepts and communicate these topics to faculty for exams.
  • Traditional Learning: Lecture-style instruction for pre-clinical coursework followed by simulation labs

2. Academic Offerings: Clinical Experiences

  • Format: two years of simulation clinic followed by two years of patient clinic
    • D1 Year: Students introduced to patient hygiene cases. Students also assist and observe D3 students in LECOM Dental Group Practices.
    • D4 Year: Student body is split in half and sent to dental clinics where they complete a 48-week community-based general dentistry clinical rotation.
